The Wild Things

Friday, October 16, 2009: a day thousands (millions?) have been waiting for for a long time.

In case you live under a rock, let me break it down for you...

Maurice Sendak wrote one of the most incredible children's books in 1963 and since then, children (and adults alike) have become so enamored with it that it has most assuredly reached "classic" status. Fast-forward to the 80's, when the first development of the film began. Fast-forward another 20-some-odd years, throw in director Spike Jonze and you've got what comes out in theatres today: a feature film adaption of one of the most loved children's stories of all time.

Whoa.

With all this hype and all this buzz, From the People wanted a piece of the pie as well! (Hey, we're excited too, okay?)

Taking inspiration from the book for many things (colours, location, wardrobe, hair, make-up) and throwing in a few small tweaks here and there (Max? A girl? Yes!) we came up with what we like to call "The Wild Things." Using motion and emotion, we gave the story depth and feeling and a real sense of connection. Pairing desaturated colours along with vibrant geometric shapes, we came up with something new; a modern way to tell the story.
